DESCRIPTION:

Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) is seeking outstanding talent to join its dynamic team developing clean energy and space propulsion. We are developing pioneering technologies in aerospace and defense, specializing in developing cutting-edge power solutions for space and remote applications. We are seeking a talented and motivated Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of exploration and safety in harsh environments. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the systems engineering and integration of radioisotope power systems for space and remote applications. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working on the cutting edge of RPS technology, from concept through design, testing, and operational deployment.

LOCATION OF WORK & TRAVEL:

The position may function from multiple USNC offices at Seattle, WA, Salt Lake City, UT, or Oak Ridge, TN. Ability to travel no more than ~1 week per month is expected in this position.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading and participating in the system-level design, integration, and testing of radioisotope power systems for various applications, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and mission requirements
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and safety engineers, to develop integrated solutions and troubleshoot system-level challenges
  • Conducting system modeling and analysis to predict performance under various conditions and refine design parameters
  • Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, including requirement specifications, integration plans, test procedures, and reports
  • Engaging with stakeholders to gather requirements, present technical reviews, and ensure alignment with project goals and timelines
  • Supporting the development of safety analysis reports and ensure systems meet rigorous safety and reliability standards
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety (EH&S), quality assurance programs, and other compliance programs at USNC

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems for aerospace, defense, or related industries.
  • Proficiency in systems modeling and simulation tools (e.g. Matlab, Python, SysML, etc.).
  • Experience developing and managing system-level design requirements and integrated testing and verification that the requirements are met by the components and the integrated system.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to a varied audience.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Commitment to an inclusive and collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate; proactive and independent identification, prioritization, and execution of tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and communicate technical information to teammates, leaders, high-level stakeholders, and customers.

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience in aerospace industry and with projects managing requirements and the system-level testing and verification of those requirements is ideal.
  • Experience with nuclear power, nuclear systems, radioactive material handling, and/or nuclear safety is preferred but not required.

COMPENSATION:

$115,000-$154,000 USD yearly

This position is eligible to participate in our performance bonus plan.
